Hi all. I am 7w1d and have had spotting through to heavy bleeding for the past 3 weeks. I've now had 3 scans and whilst bubs seems to be doing all the right things for now, I've finally been told I have a subchorionic bleed. I've read all I can and it seems likely that it will be ok but as you would expect I am totally freaking out.
Just to add to the drama, I had a miscarriage about 8 weeks ago so for a minute there DH and I where feeling so lucky to be pregnant in the first cycle but now I am just a big ball of mess. I've got a 1yr DS so I know I can do this. Just looking for any positive stories or if anyone else needs support with this or any bleeding issues. |

I had a small hematoma that caused me to bleed on and off for the first 13 weeks. It eventually stopped and all is fine (I am currently 33 weeks).
I think it just depends on the size in relation to the placenta - have they told you that? Mine was quite small so they weren't concerned but did advise me that there were no guarantees that I wouldn't miscarry. |

I guess you just need to try and not stress about it and hopefully the bleeding will stop. Unfortunately it's one of those wait and see things

I had a rather largish subchorionic haematoma at about 11 weeks and bled for months and months, that child is now 8 years old.

I've had one before also, was either my 3 year old or 1 year old, but either way they are obviously here safe and well. I was told however it slightly increased my chance of a miscarriage.

Hi
I had a subchrionic bleed which went light to heavy for about 6 weeks till 11 weeks and then occasionally after that until 20 weeks. I spent four weeks in hospital on bed rest from 7 weeks and then after all the scanning found out I was expected twins! Go figure.... I went on to have my girls, but they did come very early and I think the bleed did contribute in this as well as a lot of other factors. Hang in there and keep asking for scans as it should show it reabsorbing slowly. For what its worth my niece just delivered her DD at 40w5d and she had a subchorionic bleed at 15-20 weeks then spotted on and off the rest of pregnancy. Healthy baby, healthy weight. GL and hope your little one stops giving you trouble! |

Thanks so much for your stories! I am really confused by the information I am finding. Some says only a slightly increased risk of miscarraige and others talk about larger risk. I'm going to go with only slightly................all I can do.
More stories would be welcome please |

I had one at 9w lots of bright red then brown spotting for quite a few days. They told me that the risk of MC is normally for the clot being bigger than the sac as it can knock it when it's on it's way out (that was my interpretation 4 years ago it might not be accurate).
Good luck |

I had a suspected subchorionic thingy as I started bleeding (brown) when I was ten weeks. A couple of days after I passed a bright red clot the size of my husbands fist. Thought all was over. Went in for the earliest available scan and was told that baby was still in there doing fine. At my 12 week scan the sonographer said that there was a little pocket of blood but not really noteworthy. I didn't stop spotting until 16 weeks. So far everything is going well I am now 29 weeks.
All the best for you, hope you have a positive story to tell others as well. |
