Hi Girls,

Hoping I can get some help here - this is my 6th pregnancy over the last 12 years and only one beautiful boy to show for it so far. We've been trying for just about a year for this one and was very shocked to find out I was pregnant.

I have to go for early ultrasounds as one of those past pregnancies was an ectopic (10 years ago). I just got back today from the ultrasound and they could see a gestational sac in the uterus (great) but it was only measuring 3mm (not much pass the 4wk mark). I'm sure I'm about 5wks... here's why:

Ovulated about 28th April (was checking ovulation kits)
Implantation at the very latest - 8th May (I had a blood test on 9th May and HCG was 16).

So I'm starting to panic that I am measuring behind. I had an ultrasound when I was pregnant with my son at 5wks 4days and they were able to see the fetal pole and I was hoping for something like that.

Of course all the professionals are taking the 'wait & see' approach as there is at least a gestational sac there - but I can't help but panic and was hoping to find someone who had measured behind and maybe had caught up?

Thanks in advance for any help...

M

I measured about 8 days behind with this pregnancy. I went for an early dating scan, and I am absolutely positive about the conception date. I could understand a few days either way, but not 8 days!

I'm now measuring half way between my due date and the original ultrasounds due date. I'm about 35 weeks.

Matthias' mum - thank you so much for getting back to me with your experience (I'd say it's the same for - probably about 7-8 days!). But it's so reassuring to see that you're 35 weeks along original.gif

With my DD's pregnancy my first scan measured, 5 days behind.

I was very sure of my dates as we last BD 6 days prior to ovulation, so knew it was pretty much impossible laughing2.gif

I was 8 weeks and they had me measuring 7.2 weeks.

By the 12 week scan, it was fine and i measured the same as my LMP

measured 5 weeks when i should of been 6, then measured perfect for dates at 8 weeks, then had an ultrasound yesterday at 15weeks and measured 14 weeks.... Ultrasound tech told me it can all depend on exactly how clear a picture they get. and that up to 5 days either way is considered a normal variance.

Didnt stop me from freaking out though when like you i should have been able to see something at the first ultrasound and all they could see was a sac with no heartbeat. I guess they all just grow at their own pace.

When we first went for our dating scan we were measuring about 10 days behind where we thought we would have been!

I'm now 29 weeks, and seem to catch up a little bit each scan!

Actually it may have even been 12 days

I can't thank all you lovely ladies enough for coming on here with your stories! As you can imagine I was a wee bit weepy this evening, but coming on here and reading all your stories has given me hope and more importantly peace of mind!

I'm going to hold out another 2 weeks and then go for another scan and now I know even then if I'm still a little behind to not panic - as long as the pregnancy is progressing original.gif

Thanks again for putting a smile on my face (and my DH thanks you all too - poor DH, he's trying the best he can to make me feel better!).
