I couldn't not laugh

Oh my goodness, my child makes me laugh foiling my disciplining moments I have a present and a card in a pretty envelope sitting on my desk. I'll be seeing my friend on the weekend and intend to give them to her then but they've been there for a few days now and are clearly too interesting for DS1 (2.5yrs). He has already picked up the card twice and given it to me saying: 'You have a letter, Mum.' I've told him it is for my friend, Kellie, not me, and that I don't want him to touch it. He has repeated each time that the letter is for Kellie. He also knows that he is not supposed to touch things on my desk. He picked it up just now with peanut butter fingers and tried to give it to me. I'm so cross, the envelope now has greasy fingerprints all over it! I growled at him, saying: 'Andrew! That is not yours! It's not mine, it's for Kellie!' Then I noticed the greasy fingerprints and said, 'Andrew, you have ruined it now! What do you say to mummy?' (Expecting an apology...) He drops his forehead into his hand, looks at me and says, with a wry and concerned expression: 'You have to wash it now'. I said 'No, Andrew...' and burst out laughing. So much for cross mummy! I then told him, through tears of laughter, that he was supposed to apologise - his head again fell into his palm and he whispered 'sorry'. While I still laughed at him. sigh At least there'll be a funny story to accompany the gift

That is adorable. What a cute little man you have! I know so well the 'keep up the stern face, don't laugh, don't laugh' mantra. My fiancé and I had to practice it when we were baby sitting my 20 month niece who refused to put her pyjama top on properly and in response to our insistence proclaimed "I'm calling Mummy!" This would have been less funny if she hadn't picked up one of those plastic toy telephones with the smiling face and the string and proceeded to dial, then getting very impatient when it wouldn't ring going "come on, come on, pick up!"
