money won't buy friends but you will get a better class of e
Still dreaming but thinking of names.

Love classic names - not too common but unfortunately I seem to be only a couple of years ahead of the popularity.

No occupation, surname, or place names

No J names

Like an obvious NN that is actually the beginning of the name eg. Nich, Wil, Jo

At the moment favourites
Vincent - Vince
Tobias - Tobi
Nathaniel - Nate
Gabriel - Gabe
Dominic - Nic (goes agains NN rule though0
Ignatius - Nate (goes against NN rule, don't know if is pushing the NN of Nate. can't see DH agreeing to this one) wub.gif

WDYT? Suggestions??

Already have or can't use due to close family.:
Zachariah - Zach
Xavier
Sebastian -Seb
Oiver - Oli
Quinton - Quin
Stephen - Steve
Charles - Charlie
William - Wil
Matthew - Matt
Patrick - Rick
Thomas - Tom
Robert

Of your list, I like Vincent, Dominic, Tobias and Nathaniel (but prefer Nathan).

I know two Dominics, both go by Dom. I think that's just as nice a NN as Nic.

I like all your favourites except Nathaniel. For some reason the Nate names have never appealed to me.

I love Dominic with Dom as a nickname, Tobias and Gabriel are my other favourites.

I love Tobias (nn Toby), Gabriel (nn Gabe), Dominic (nn Nic or Domo) and Ignatius (nn Iggy or possibly even Gus, but definitely not Nate). I have never been a fan of Nathanial or Nate for some reason, and although I think Vincent is a great name, I find it hard not to picture Vince Colossimo from Young Talent Time whenever I hear that name!!

Dominic, Tobias, Gabriel, and Nathaniel are all really appealing to me. Dom as a NN sounds dirty to me though so I would probably try for Nic. I did think Dominick was spelt like this for a long while though but I think that's just a thing people do to try to re-enforce Nick.

I love Gabriel but I don't love Gabe. I keep trying to think of ways I can avoid Gabe.

Ideas:

Nicholas - Nick
Thaddeus - Thad
Zebulon - Zeb.
Finnian/Phineas (or Finian/Phinnaeus) and Finnegan - I do like Finn as a NN but they are getting very popular.
Alaric/Alastair/Alasdair - Al. My sister also would say Alfred but that's a bit full-on for me, or I'm a coward, or something.
Samson/Samuel - Sam.
Gareth - Gary
Patrick/Padraig/Padraic. - Pat, Paddy.
Malachy/Malcolm - Mal

Not first syllable NNs but pretty clear:
Lysander - Sander
Ezekiel/Hezekiah - Zeke
Malachi - Kai would be my preference but I guess Mal works too. I do not say Malachi and Malachy the same.
Antoine - All the ones I know answer to Toine.
Andre - Similarly, they're all Dre in my experience.

Matteo - Matt
Marcus - Marc
Mitchell - Mitch
Maxwell - Max

My pick is Nathaniel with the NN of Nate.

As another suggestion - Samuel (Sam).

Good luck!
