I'm doing it as well, while I'm on maternity leave. One unit at a time. What unit are you doing first?

I start on the 28th of this month. Same unit as you. I've done it before but due to personal circumstances I never completed it, so I'm doing it again.
I want my pass grade. Tounge1.gif

Me too! I started Criminology/Criminal Justice but after a reality check I realised I was dreaming. Being a single parent in that line of work just doesn't gel. I work in childcare so I'm just going to further my education rather than a career change.
I'm hoping to use a few of those units as electives.

I work in child care as well, but I can't do my cert 3 by correspondence without pracs, and neither of the two child care centres in town will let me do it while I'm pregnant, so I figured I'd just do uni while I can.
I'm not sure what I'm hoping to get out of it exactly, but I'm leaning towards either social work or library/kindy teacher. I don't want to run a childcare centre, or just be childcare staff for ever. I LOVE being a childcare worker, but the pay is horrific, and without moving to team leader or director, I can't see it going any further unfortunately. Not in my town anyway.

Oh no! That must be really frustrating for you.
I was looking at the degree in Primary but it just seems to be so hard to secure a full time teaching job. This atleast gives me the option of Childcare right through to Grade 2. So if I cant get a job in a school there is always the option of preschool or staying in childcare.
Ideally I would like to be a kindergarten assistant while doing my degree and then move into kindy teaching.

I'm looking into SSO positions as well, starting next year. As much as they aren't supposed to, they tend to discriminate against the pregnant in this town so my efforts this year have been hopeless. sad.gif They know I want to work primarily in kindy or year 1 though, so I'm hoping by February they'll have a position for me so I can get some more experience while I am studying. At least then I'll know for sure if I like working in that environment. I already know I love childcare, but there is only casual positions available in my town and I'd really prefer full time.
