DD is nearly 5 months and for the past 4 days her poo has changed from its normal mustardy brown colour to a greenish yellow shade. She's also been going twice a day instead of her normal once every 3 days. She's fully breasted and her diet hasn't changed and I haven't introduced any new foods. Just wondering if I should be concerned?
She's still feeding and alert but is a little more 'flat' than normal. She doesn't have a temp. I've phoned the GP but they are booked out for the next few days.... |

If you want to talk to a health professional you could call your CHN (in Vic they have the 24 hour MCHN phone line) or check the link below for 24 hour contacts.
http://www.essentialbaby.com.au/forums/ind...howtopic=896134 I suppose you'll just have to wait and see what happens, if anything else changes for her, ie refusing bfeeds or miserable or any other cause for concern. All the best. |

My initial thought is that she may be getting more foremilk and not enough hindmilk.
DS who is 3 mths has been having this recently and that is what I have put it down too. I have been letting him suck on the same side for longer before switching (if we switch) to make sure he is getting the hind milk. |

Has she had her rotovirus shot recently? That gave my daughter green frothy poos for a while. The effects can take a while to show up and last a bout a week. We got her tested anyway, just to make sure.

I am having a similar issue with my four month old. He has very watery green pop, most of the time. He is a really good, long feeder so I don't think it is a foremilk/hindmilk thing. I have made a GP appt but it is not for a few days. Just looking for Any experiences/advice...

my DS has green poo all the time but he's into iron vitamins everyday, so i don't worry. it's not too watery nor too solid though. just about his normal one.

Echoing the too much foremilk suggestion.
Mine have all had green poo at one stage or another and it didn't seem to mean anything particular. I think if it starts from birth and goes on forever it can be lactose intolerance. I also find its more common and linked with fussiness if I have had too much sugary food, but nothing medical to back that up just my observation. |

As an update to my situation, my GP ordered a stool sample test on Friday. We got the results today that he in fact has rotavirus. He is ok but I urge anyone with a child with green poo/diahorroea to get it checked out.

Thank you for the update darlia and your reminder to seek medical advice if you are unsure about the health of your child. I hope your baby is well again.
All the best. |
