You know I've been looking at my FF chart, and I've decided they need to change the pregnancy test probability.

Instead of saying "16% of positive pregnancy tests are recorded before 9DPO" it should read...

"84% of pregnancy tests will show negative at 9DPO. Keep hanging in there!!"

From memory I don't think it's until 12 or 13DPO that the percentage of positives is over the 50% line.

Am I the only one that thinks it should be the other way around. It's really just a glimmer of false hope. A bit like the Early Pregnancy Signs bar that gets to 2/3rds - 3/4 full by the time AF arrives!!

Thanks for listening biggrin.gif

And P.S. No this is not a rant as such, I haven't done a PG test and am annoyed or anything, I just think it offers a bit of false hope each month.

It's an evil plot by the pregnancy test manufacturers who sponsor the page!

They want us to keep testing/buying boot loads of PT's and wasting them by testing before an accurate result is likely....

I have been TTC for years now - I don't test until I'm at least two days late (and even then I don't usually bother), I've seen enough negative tests to last me for three lifetimes.

Totally agree - they should give you a message that doesn't get your hopes up, but encourages you to stay positive!

In defence of FF though, they have a page that gives you the results of their study and it says if you are PG and test:
- 4 days before AF is due = 6% chance of a BFP
- day AF is due = 60% chance of a BFP
- 4 days after AF is due = 100% chance of BFP
http://www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/When_c...m_pregnant.html

So keep in mind that, even if you're PG, you have 40% chance of getting a BFN on day AF is due. So keep those FX until AF actually arrives... or doesn't!

Hmm it's interesting they have those statistics available but choose to show the % from what other people have said. Perhaps they should say the above statistics rather than whats happened to other FF members in the past! If you opened up FF and got told you only had a 6% chance of getting a BFP you probably wouldn't bother!!

I'm glad it doesn't bother you but I think it is more frustrating for those of us who are TTC our first!

Felt the samee when ttc my first original.gif

I prefer to test early, if its negative i consider myself out. it may just be too early of course, but i prefer to tell myself im out so i dont spend another four days being hopeful, then get my period and be disappointed. if i test early, im so over the waiting around that by the time my period arrives im not disappointed anymore lol

I agree OP. I always tested early and often got positives early, but it was the cause of constant stress, plus I found out about every chemical.

I think they need to go back to the idea of waiting until your first missed period day. I spent a small fortune.
