I am looking to try a new skin care brand. I have been using Neutrogena lately but I'm not sure if thats the most appropriate brand to use anymore. I am 26 years old so I'm not hugely concerned about wrinkles and lines just yet but I am starting to think about using some sort of product that can help with that. My skin is more towards dry than oily but I've found the combination moisturiser to be best rather than a straight 'dry' moisturiser as I do get some shininess on my forehead. I get the occasional pimple or a bit of oiliness if I've eaten a lot of junk but not huge break-outs.

I was looking at Garnier, L'Oreal and Olay at the chemist the other day. But wasn't sure which one to get or which range within the brand to get. I'd be looking for an everyday cleanser and a moisturiser and maybe a toner but I'm not even sure if toner is necessary or not. Also, is the Garnier Pure range designed for acne and pimples? I've been told to stay away from the 'teenage' products like Nivea Young etc as I don't need that anymore and it dries out my skin. I don't want to go for the really expensive products just yet but I do want something decent. I have also noticed that Woolies/Safeway have 30% off most of their skincare products so thats why I'm looking to change over this week, lol.

My sister is your age and does not "do" skin care until just recently. L'Oreal have a product for 25 - 30 yr olds which has a day and night cream. I find the toner always gets rid of the makeup that the supposed make up remover was meant to get ride of (I only cleanse and tone at night) and L'Oreal from memory have a product that covers all ages.

As you said stay away from teenage stuff as it will dry your skin out. I have dry skin myself and could never use the teenage products as they were always designed for more oily skin then what you have in your mid 20's and beyond.

L'Oreal I find is AWFUL. Heavily fragranced, irritating.

Paula's choice wears like a dream and keeps my skin in top shape. And it's cheap.

I use Simple.

It's cheap, not to many nasties and if I do say so myself at 40 I've got pretty nice skin - 20 years off and on of Simple can't be that bad.....

I find that, value for money, you can't go past Olay. I use the Regenerest range because my skin is dry and I am old.

I have used a skin care regimen of sorts since I was in my teens.

The only two products I've ever had an adverse reaction to were Garnier UltraLift spf15 cream, and the ""mid price" Olay products (the fights 7 signs of ageing) range: such an awful allergic reaction my eyes swelled shut.

I have had good results with:
Garnier range in the "light green" colours (they keep changing the name of it)
Simple
Burt's Bees
L'Oreal Youth Code

I use NeoStrata too.

Nothing will help get rid of wrinkles other than a) sunscreen and b) not smoking though.

I've recently been converted to Jurlique. I use the cleanser, toning mist, moisturiser, eye cream and exfoliator. It's the only product that I've been able to get near my eyes without irritating them. They are natural and smell divine. (I'm 30 by the way).

I use Juju cosmetics. Can't get it in Oz.


The juju aquamoist moisture washing foam and vitamin c toner. It's water based and very light.

I swear by Bioderma H2o for make up remover..takes everything off and the bottle is huge and is so cheap. using it daily and would still last me 1yr+

I also use the aquamoist hydraclauric essense...skin feels so refreshed..just dab on with finger tips and it helps to absorb moisturise better.

I love Olay regenerist micro sculpting serum...it's very light and velvety and leaves no trace of cream on your face at all. absorbs so well.

unfortunately there r so many good stuff we don't get in Oz... Etude House, Skinfood, etc their masques are amazing..you wear it to sleep. Exxy everywhere but so much cheaper in Korea.
