My youngest ds 14 months is way more mobile than my other 2 kids were at his age and quite hyper. His latest trick is to climb anything and everything. He loves to get on top of desks, the change table and swivel chairs and can do so very quickly. He is also quite inventive, he pulls down the oven door and climbs up on it to reach the kitchen bench

Our daughter is in the same phase, we put up a playpen in the lounge room for her to play safely in when we need to do something.....although we had to tie it to the lounge chair to stop her pushing it around the house, lol. She has a plush chair and a few boxes of toys that we alternate between for her in there and she climbs on top of it all, lol, at one point we had a big ball in there but she kept standing on it, lol, it was a little scary watching her balancing on a ball so it had to go.

MY DS is the same.
DD was never interested in climbing and didn't walk until 15 months. DS is 13 months and climbs everything. He can even get on the couch by himself. He also picks up DD's step from the bathroom and places it so he can climb up onto things. I've had to modify the house a little. DD's tab;e and chairs are outside for the moment as DS coms all over them and they are light and will tip easily. Bathroom/toilet doors shut. Other than that I let him climb on other things and yes he sometimes falls but more often than not he doesn't...I think he's got to learn somehow |
