Skoomeez?

Just saw DS2's face! Overreaction to mozzie bite? Spider bite? Something else?

He's a mozzie magnet but we've been inside, although we did see a mozzie in the car abou an hour ago when we were driving. Other than that he's been inside watching telly.

Anyone got any clues? He's had Telfast and I'm sure he'll be fine but I'm curious.

OMG - poor little boy ohmy.gif

I saw someone else react badly to a mozzie bite yesterday, like the pink, raised section of your son's cheek but without the deeper red surround. This child had 4 or 5 huge welts. Apparently it wasn't unsual for the child I saw. It was treated with calamine and that helped but her mother told me they usually just give her Zyrtec (12 year old).

I'd say it probably was the mozzie ( no medical background here though) but I'd be showing the GP that photo and getting some advice.

I hope he recovers quickly.

Well, it's an hour later and his cheek is now just a bit pink and the raised area is only visible if you know it was there before!

PP, he does seem to have reactive skin, so it didn't surprise me seeing his face like that, I just wasn't sure if a mozzie could have done it if it hadn't in the past.

Weird, but as I thought a quick recovery occurred, so all's well that ends well!

It looks like a big hive (instead of smaller hives). DD reacts to bites, in particular mozzies and it doesn't look raised like a hive. Hers is a big raised area but not with those mottled edges. And the fact that the antihistamine worked means it's an allergic reaction.

Picture of hives.

I had a big itchy welt from a hairy caterpillar a couple of months ago. So itchy and was really red. Could be that too if he's been outside.
