I normally go to QFG Spring Hill, but now that it looks like I'm going from IUIs to IVF, I won't be able to afford the out of pocket gap through this clinic ($4500 because we don't have PHI). They told us if we go through QFG Springwood (actually called "The Fertility Centre"), the gap will only be $1350.
So my question is, and you'll need to PM me, what has been your experience with the FSs there? Apparently there are 4 there to choose from. What do you like or not like about them? I'd prefer someone laid back and down to earth who I can talk to, but am interested to hear what you have to say. I never thought I'd have to take this step, and it'd be nice if the doctor we end up going with isn't one who'll make it harder than it needs to be, IKYWIM? I really wanted to stay with my Spring Hill FS, but we simply can't afford it, espeically if we'll be needing to go several rounds at this Thank you so much in advance! ETA - It turns out that the QFG Springwood prqactice trades as The Fertility Centre This post has been edited by HappyWomble: 04/05/2012, 10:06 AM |

Desperate *bump* for attention.
Has ANYONE been to the Fertility Centre? (That's it's "proper" name.) |

I haven't been.
I used to go into the QFG in Wickham but I live in Springwood. That would have been so much more convenient. Where exactly is it? |

The Gateway Building, 2 Murrajong Road.
Apparently, you get whichever doctor is available on the day and you liaise mostly with the nurses. Anyone had that kind of IVF experience? |

Thanks for replying, gemgirl. Are you still able to ask questions and get them answered by the FS?

Hi HappyWomble, sorry I can't help you with the clinic you're asking about, but same as Gemgirl, when I did my IVF cycle I mostly saw the nurses. I saw the FS for the initial consultation, the first day of the IVF cycle, then at the EPU, then at the transfer, then for a scan at 6 weeks. Everything else, all internal scans, dispensing and explanation of use of drugs, blood tests, were all done by the nurses. Even the "big call" to be told BFN or BFP was done by the nurses. You can absolutely ask them questions and they will be able to answer the majority of them. FN's are awesome. I've always found them to be very caring and sensitive, and most of all very informative and helpful. Good luck, I hope it happens quickly for you ~Mintie~ |

Thank you so much! Making the decision to go IVF is so hard, then being restricted in choice of clinic by extremely tight finances is harder still. We've been in a stuation before where we were just treated like a cog in the machine and were put on "the protocol" regardless of whether that was right for us or not. Having done a few IUIs already, IVF's not such a scary thing, just the EPU is different really (the transfer is similar to the IUI).
Seeing that someone else got pregnant in a similar clinic is making me feel a little better about it - thanks! |
