And when all else fails - suspenders/braces!

I have a skinny 5yo lad who needs size 2 waist, size 3 length. School pants start in size 4. We have taken them up half their length and there is no more room to bunch up the elastic waist band, so we are buying braces in school colour!

We has a couple of pairs that he wears with loose pants normally - he is just to inept to get the concept of a belt before a crisis hits!

My DS is 7 and is very skinny. For years I have been buying his jeans from Gymnboree or Crazy 8 because they do "slim" sizing. Each size comes in 3 varieties ie slim, standard and husky. These fit without any of the bunching I have had on the standard sizes that have to be pulled so far in.

Crazy 8 often have great jeans sales, I buy current size and then the next size up (a few pairs of each) and even with postage it often ends up around $10 a pair or less

We've got some leggings from Seed and they are nice and snug around the top but still too long on my skinny long legged DD - marvellous!

My boys have always been very skinny waisted and it is so frustrating finding pants.

DS1 is 5 and fits into a 2-3 waist wise but need a 4-5 for length. ds2 is just 3 and needs a 0 waist wise and 1-2 for length.

I have always bought their clothes from pumpkin patch, crazy 8, gymboree and gap but for this winter i bought a heap of trackies from target and best and less. But i had to snip the sides and replace the elastic, they now fit great.

We have this problem.

PP elasticized are OK, but we have them on the tightest setting and they are quite bunched.

I just got a pair of cords and a pair of skinny jeans from Target. Much cheaper than PP, and the bunching isn't so bad - still on basically the tightest setting.

We do also resort to belts (doubled!) but this is obviously a pain when changing nappies, and would not work for a TTer or pre-schooler who needs to go in a hurry.

Have a look in the girls range. DS2 has the same problem, i just look for plain jeans etc in the girls section as they are a much slimmer fit

Ditto. I've always been able to get plain jeans and cord pants in the Target girls' section - as well as plain track pants. They are a much skinnier cut. Especially at the moment with "skinny jeans" being "in."
