Not sure if this is the right place for this but some of you might know! I have a nearly 2.5 year old who is just about into a size 0 for waist but would be a size 1 for length (wears size 1 - 2 tops). I can't find anything that fits him - it was fine with shorts in the summer (although he was still wearing some 00!) but now it is getting colder i am really struggling to find pants that fit him
Is there anywhere that the sizing leans more to skinny hipped kids? God knows what I will do when we toilet train him as it is only his nappies holding up his pants as it is! Skinny genes not from my side of the family unfortunately, his dad has the skinniest hips I have ever seen! Suggestions welcome, and I am useless with a sewing machine so making them not really an option. Thanks! |

My ds was/is the same. Even at 5, he can still fit into size 1 pants (obviously way too short for him though). I just always bought the pants with the adjustable elastic in it - you know the ones with buttons you can pull in? Pumpkin Patch sell quite a large range. Also found them in Myer and Target.

Target sizes tend to run a bit small. DS is not a normal sized 2 but he can wear their jeans, though his cloth nappies do help.

Cotton On Kids seem to have adjustable waists and a 'skinny' style.
I also get them at Target and Pumpkin Patch. For cute ones, look at Oishi-m (Aussie Mum). They come in skinny and chubba. My DS is in size 2/3 tops for length, but 0/1 shorts. This is his third year in some shorts. We need size two or even three jeans for length, but some just fall off him. |

Agree with PP, your best bet are those adjustable waist pants.

Have a look in the girls range. DS2 has the same problem, i just look for plain jeans etc in the girls section as they are a much slimmer fit

I've been buying pants for DD online from US stores or having family ship clothing from Canada. Gap/Old Navy, Gymboree, The Children's Place, etc. all tend to run on the lean side for girls, I assume boys would be similar.
That said, I have had some luck with cotton on kids but the quality isn't there. Pumpkin Patch is close, but expensive. I avoid Target, best and less and kmart as they seem to make thier pants for turkeys (wide waists, short legs) |

the buttonhole elastic/maternity elastic pants for kids are great. Not just PP has them but other stores do them too now. you just gotta check
and they last for ages. For example, the size 1 PP jeans lasted three seasons because 1st season the cuffs were turned up, 2nd season only turned up a little, 3rd season at full length lol yeh I know it doesn't work if you have a tall bean like my brother but if you have a little one with a skinny waist who doesn't bean sprout, then you're sweet This post has been edited by KristyMum-: 29/04/2012, 06:34 PM |
