I am already stressing about her taking them on a plane alone from kl to Kuantan without us.
I did it with my kids, it wasn't scary.

Yay! Nayati has been returned safely to his family. Link to Malaysia's star newspaper below with a brief story, and a gorgeous photo of him hugging his sister. I'm so, so glad this story had a happy ending.

To those of you who are worried about travelling/living in Malaysia/KL - I grew up there and have travelled there a few times with my kids. I'm always vigilant with the kids and aware that cute, European looking kids could be more of a target for kidnapping, but this sort of thing could happen anywhere really, so don't let it put you off or make you feel paranoid. Malaysian people in general are really friendly and helpful and love kids. I've had people go out of their way to be nice to us because of our kids.

Fantastic news that he has been returned to his family!

I attended international schools as a kid. I was picked up and dropped off within the school grounds at both schools. After the Gulf War in the early 90's security at my school was hoiked up (armed guards for awhile!) I actually didn't have any fears of being kidnapped for money. I did fear being abducted and having a kidney stolen (urban myth that was supposedly "true" in Athens) and and I did fear being a target of something else (a few Americans were killed at various times I was there). My local friend thought I was extremely paranoid. I think I was too.

Oh see you're probably a relatively reasonable person right? I'm talking about my mil here. She has competency and common sense in equally short supply and my dh is extremely over sensitive about her ability to look after them so I can't even calmly raise my concerns with him without being verbally attacked followed by a long period of sulking by him.

I would be worried if she was flying from Sydney to Adelaide with them too.

So glad the boy was returned!,

I'm so happy for him and the parents. So rare that these stories end so well!
