HI, I'm newly back on EB.
I just need to talk about my first bit of luck feeding my new little man original.gif He was born on Sunday and I have unsuccessfully been trying to get him to latch on for a feed all week. Ive had to start expressing my milk and bottle feed every feed as he has this tiny little mouth and just wants to purse his lips and suck all the time. Waiting to see the lactation consultant and my midwife is wonderful, here everyday trying to help. But I just fed him and finally got him to attach for the first time. Yay!!!!!! Feeling like this might be possible after all biggrin.gif Soooooo hoping we can do that again next feed and stop having to pump. I would so love to be able to breastfeed for ages.
Fingers crossed xx

"Your body is not a lemon!" - Ina May Gaskin
That is so awesome!!

I really think my MW support - at my home for an hour or more each time is what made our breastfeeding succeed. If it wasn't for her, I would have collapsed in an emotional pile and 'given up' and resorted to formula (before it starts - not anti formula!!)

The right support is just invaluable when you are at such a vulnerable place.

Chin up OP, and keep going original.gif

just had successful feed no. 2. managed to get him on both sides after filling him half up from the bottle again and lots of fights over the left side. Just need to try and get some sleep now, as soon as this next backup bottle is ready.

Thanks for the support!

Reenie I agree. MW support at home is the best.

I think trouble feeding is just to make up for such an easy labour. Have to tell that story some other time biggrin.gif
