Hi, my son is 3 years and 4 months and have successfully toilet trained him at home. Only took 2 weeks and he got used it to it, but when I took him out to my fathers house he didn't want to go toilet and just peed in his pants. My son doesn't speak well and so it's hard for him to tell me if he needs to go to the toilet.
Any suggestions on how to make the transition from home to going out to go to the toilet? Any ideas would help. He starts 4 year old kinder in 2013 and I want him to be confident. |

With my son it just took a lot of wet pants when out - I just kept asking him if he needed to go, took him every time we were near a toilet but still lots of accidents. Each time I would change him and remind him he needed to wee in the toilet. One day after a few weeks of this he just suddenly got it and asked to go to the toilet when out and we've never had a problem since.
Does he wee standing up or sitting on a potty or kid seat? If a kid seat try to take it with you when going to other people's houses, the big toilet can be scary. If a potty take that. It all gets much easier once they can wee standing up! |

Whenever we go out I take them as soon as we arrive, if they don't go (depending on where we are obviously) I try to take them every half hr until they finally go, and always try to get them to go before we leave. I try to never ask them if they have to go, I just say "right lets go wee", that way they don't get the choice as usually they answer no if I ask if they have to go, but usually always wee if I take them anyway.
