I can imagine why SummerStar, because initially I absolutely loved the bassinet and he slept so well in it on so many walks!

I think he should be fine in a 45 degree position, he helds his head at the centre of his body very well and when carried, sits upright and looks around now.

Hi,

Just bumping up this thread with a related question - DS is 5 months old and still in the Cameleon bassinet. He gets very frustrated when awake as he wants to see the world - this also means I have to sit him on my lap or hold him when we are stationary, otherwise he will just cry in the bassinet as he can't see anything.

When he's tired he sleeps fine in the bassinet.

We changed to the seat today and he loves looking out at the world while awake. We tried both the flat and semi-reclined positions and he seemed happiest in the semi-reclined as he could see everything. However, we were out for a few hours and he didn't sleep at all - which is unusual for him. He also looks a bit awkward in the lying down position with his legs sticking up as the seat is shaped like a V whilst flat so I'm wondering if he's comfortable and whether we should change back to the bassinet (lady in the baby shop said we should use the bassinet 'til 6 months due to SIDS risk of babies sleeping not completely flat).

Any comments from others on their experience with this would be appreciated! Thanks in advance :-)

Hi, our son is a bit over six months and used to sleep extremely well in the bassinette ...so we didn't change it over until a week ago! He is definitely happier in the seat when he is awake...for the first few days he didn't sleep and I was worried because he is in the stroller ALOT (school drop off and pick up for DS 1) ....but the last couple of days he has happily drifted off ....in semi reclined position, I found it was when I switched him to lying down that that would rouse him ....if your son is five months, good head control...I would be inclined to try the seat out ...

I switched my pram when my DS was about 3.5 months, his head control was good and he wanted to look around. I was worried about the 6mo recommendation but checked with the clinic nurse and she said it was fine.

He sleeps fine in the seat, but I need to put it right back before he will drop off, and put a muslin over the top. He looks funny with his legs sticking out all froggy but he doesn't seem to care. I wait til I see his eyes glaze then pop the seat back and put the muslin over, and he drops off.

Thanks for your replies. He is loving the seat and slept in it the second time we used it. He is happy with it kept in the flattest position - he can still see a lot more than when he was in the bassinet. I also checked with my early childhood nurse who said it was ok - he has good head control.
