I had mine done Feb last year (cut and cauterised), no problems, recovery has been basically the same for all 4 of my c/s.

My OB offered me a TL when I was having my 3rd C/S and never told me about the risk factors ether. I asked her about higher failure rate when done with a C/S and Tubal Ligation Syndrome but she just dismissed it and said that there are no risk. I didn't believe her and chose not to have a TL. Lot easier and less risky for DH to get the snip.
There are OBs who will not do a TL at the same time as a C/S because of the higher failure rate. And there are lots of woman who have terrible side affects after their TL. A friend of mine suffers with excessive bleeding and can bleed for up to 24 days each month. She also has depression and was never depressed prior to the TL. She really regrets having it done. Read up on the risk. |

My OB was very clear that the failure rate was too high for him to recommend it at the time of c/s.
He then went into the pros and cons of TL vs vasectomy and timing - this included waiting till highest risk of SIDS had passed (ie would we try again if something happened to this baby) and what if I died and my husband wanted to remarry (would wife #2 want more kids) My OB is very thorough! |

I had it done last year during the C/S of DD2. My recovery was pretty much the same as my 2 previous C/S.
I regret having mine done, due to my cycle being completely messed up now. ( was 28 day cycle, 4 days of lightish bleeding, Now it can be between 22 and 29 day cycles and 3-5 days of heavy bleeding and horrid cramping) Interestingly, I also wasn't warned of the high failure rate when tubal ligation is done during C-section. |

Really ineresting replys. I'm having my 4th CS in 2 weeks and planning TL at the same time as pregnancy doesn't agree with me health wise. My Ob hasn't mentioned anything about failure rates or possible problems with periods post TL. He is a boy though, lol.
