Hi there, i am breastfeeding my 8mo bub and my GP put me on the mini pill 6 weeks ago or so. I started the pills on the first day of my period (which had been pretty regular for a few months after having the baby) but now it seems like my bleeding is constant! One week on, one off or similar. Last week I finished a week long period on Friday then it started up again on Monday. Full on cramps etc also.

Is this normal with the mini pill? Should I wait a few months and see if things regulate themselves or book in an appt with the GP? Am not really worried about it but it's kind of annoying!!

Wondering others experiences with the mini pill?

Thanks girls :-)

I've never been on the mii pill, but when I had this problem with my pill the Dr had to try a few different ones to find the right level of hormones to stop me bleeding through.
I'd see the GP

I can relate! My DD is 6 months tomorrow and I have been on the mini pill for about 5 months or so and my period has been all over the place!

Started off coming twice a month - joy! Then I didn't get it for a few months and actually thought I was pregnant! Three tests confirmed I wasn't wink.gif

Apparently the mini pill is a bit random. I would go and speak to your GP though and see what they recommend.

I am currently breastfeeding and on the mini pill.

Pretty random bleeding for me as well.

Period type bleed followed up by spotting a week or two later.

I will give it a few more months and then look at other options if it doesn't settle down.

I've been on the mini pill for 16 months and while my bleeding was pretty regular for a long time, in the last couple of months it has gone haywire. I would bleed for 5 days, not bleed for 5 days and that went on several times. Now my period has just disappeared! I have sore breasts and am so moody. It's like permanent PMS! I have done 2 pregnancy tests just in case but both negative. I figure the mini pill isn't really cutting it for me anymore. I'm hoping to change over to an IUS in the next couple of months. See if it settles down in a few months. If it doesn't, you might want to try a different one. Good luck!

Yes!

I've been on mini pill for 11 months. Still breastfeeding my 13 month old but for the last 2 months have pretty much had constant bleeding. One week one one week off like you.

And *TMI* much heavier than what it was like pre-baby as well.

I need to go to drs as my script is nearly finished, but if this is typical for the mini pill then I really want to change to something else, I am so sick of it! Makes me start to worry about my iron levels as well.
