Hi there

We are driving up to Canberra from Melbourne in June for 5 days. It's my cousins 21st birthday and they live in Gungahlin. Can any of you lovely ACT ladies suggest a suburb and/or a motel to stay in. I don't want to spend a fortune, just something neat and clean.

Many thanks
Kylie

I don't live there, but we stay at the medina classic Canberra. Clean, fresh, closet to questacon, art gallery, national library etc.
Can def recommend. If you book early enough, you usually get an early bird discount as well.

The grabbing hands grab all they can
We recently stayed at the Forrest Apartments. They are small but perfectly functional and not too exxy. Good location near Manuka shops, restaurants etc, plus Parliament House, Civic (city), NGA etc. As we weren't going to Canberra at peak time we found something only a few days before we left on wotif.com for a lot less, there are plenty to choose from.

Yes there is not much in the gungahlin in area. There is the gold creek inn which is much closer, I dont think it's on wotif though. The next closest would be the Belconnen premier inn.

Having said that, if you stayed in Kingston or manuka or the city, the drive is only about 20min to Gungahlin.

There's a newish motel in Gungahlin town centre called Abode Apartments. They are not cheap but nothing in Canberra is original.gif

I was going to suggest Abode, as well. I haven't stayed there myself (Canberra local), but people I know who have were happy with it.

Have been to Canberra a few times recently to visit relatives in Gunghalin. We have stayed at the Quality Hotel at the Dickson Tradies Club. It is only around 10 minutes from Gunghalin. Last time we stayed, we had rooms with 2 queen beds and they only cost $105 a night. It is also within the Tradies club so there is a breakfast cafe and dinner bistro. The prices are cheaper on www.wotif.com rather than ringing them direct, however I would price them on wotif first then contact them to discuss your needs then ask them to match the price. They also offer free parking.
