Dearie me....

ETA: he needs far better 'help' than he's getting that's for sure. Very sad.

Too legit to quit.
I am pretty sure it's not attention seeking....the poor guys is obviously not well. I fell sorry for Bert and Patty, it would be hard watching your child's problems so publicly.

Yeah I was sceptical previously too but the poor guy is unravelling before our eyes. I don't think this kind of attention does anyone's career any good so I can't see why he would fake it.

I hope he can find a way to pull himself out of the spiral of self destruction that he's in.

It incredibly sad. And terrible that his obvious mental and drug problems need to be portrayed so publically constantly. I appreciate it's a price of fame but it doesn't serve any purpose.

Has anyone watched the footage? That incident went on for way too long, I think the hotel need to retrain their staff on how to deal with this sort of thing. Trying to de-escalate the situation by making the call for him wouldn't have been an option, the situation was way beyond that at the point that this happened. Matthew was continuing to follow the clerk around while another staff member wasn't doing anything to help but was trying to make the call!

The minute he stepped behind the counter the clerk should have retreated to safety and called the police (he did have the opportunity to get away, he hung around for ages rather than attempt to lock himself away somewhere and call for assistance).

ETA FWIW I don't think it's just attention-seeking, he has a lot more to lose than to gain from this sort of stunt.

If convicted, Newton could face a maximum of 365 days in jail, police sergeant Freddie Cruz said
I guess that sounds better/bigger than 1 year rolleyes.gif

Would he even go to jail if he has a mental illness or would he go to a psych hospital?

Yes.

The majority of people in prison have a mental disorder (if you include substance abuse as a mental disorder).
