Hi,

I am looking into getting the Telstra Tbox.

We currently have the IQ box with Foxtel (but no foxtel channels) so we love to be able to pause/rewind/record etc but the Tbox has the added ability to get more access to movies. And they are both the same cost $11 per month.

I am concerned about the internet connection and whether this can interfere with it?
We have ADSL 2 and have checked with Telstra and they said it was fine for the speed.

Anyone else got it and what do you think?

How much are the movies if you want to watch them?

I have one. It mainly gets used for the kids to record some shows.
Movies, never got them but I think they cost around $5 for them.
Ours is connected to the internet and we have no problems. In fact I have just found the radio channel so am enjoying listening to the radio whilst doing my uni work.

We have had one for a couple of years now, and we all love it.

We paid for ours outright, for $250. We have asdl2 and it is fine. Wouldn't be without it. We probably hire a movie once or twice a month, and it is great when you have had one or 2 glasses of wine and don't feel like driving anywhere!

You can series record stuff, program to record shows up to a week ahead, plus all the live tv/pause/rewind stuff of IQ.

hi, we only have ADSL and are on the outer edges distance wise for the hub so internet connection is not great - most of the extra channels are sports related so dont bother me, frustrating for DH as it keeps pausing, basically ineffective, also should only take 20 mins or so to download movies but it take us hours. I was told that it wouldnt be perfect in our situatio so cant complain.

Movies are just under $6 to download - you usually have 48 hours but you have 7 days to 'start' that 48 hour period if that makes sense. Some of the cheaper weeklys are about $3. It is certainly convenient.

One downfall - but it is probably for all services is that shows go over all the time so if you record a show that is supposed to be on say from 7-8pm it will only record from 7-8pm so if programming is out and the show starts at 7.15 and finishes at 8.15 then you miss the end of the show - we always record the show before and the show after to make sure we get it all.

We have had a T-box for about 18 months now with an ADSL2 connection.

I love having it, although as a PP mentioned programming times don't always start on time so I manually do all my recordings, adding an extra 30-45 mins onto the finish time to ensure I record the whole program, although this becomes a PITA when shows are on different channels, rather than doing a series record.

We haven't watched any movies on it as yet, so I can't comment on how that apsect is.

I found with series recording that if they changed the date / time of the series it wouldn't record for me.
Sometimes, on the Guide it has TBA and so it means that you need to go in and check daily to see if they have updated the programming schedule so you know if you want to record a show or not.

We have it, but have never purchased movies on it.

We save all our favourite shows and watch them at our leisure.

We have one, we feel it's crap and a complete waste, would never recommend them. DH uses it to watch his footy and that's it.

I have another recorder that I use instead.

You can set series record to always record however many minutes you want before or after the program without having to record the previous or later programs. (same if you only want to record a single program.)

We have never had any problems with it not recording the programs from a series when the timeslot changes, it just adjusts automatically.

The movies are great because they are easy to buy (and cheap). You don't have to wait for the whole movie to download because once 5% is downloaded you can start watching it.

We were recommeded to connect to our modem with the "blue" cord (can't remember what it is called) to make sure the connection is as fast as possible. We don't do this though, we just use the wireless option and have no problems (TV is through 2 walls, approx 5m away from modem).

The kids love to use it to watch youtube. It also has a parental lock system. I suggest having your youtube pin as a different number to the account pin so kids can't order movies without you or watch any ma+ programs.
