It's called reduplicative babble and it begins around 6mths - so spot on! My bub didn't start this until 8mths. She began saying "mum" and "dad" to mean us around 11-12mths. Still never says "mummy" or "daddy" - it's just "mum" or "dad" like she's a teenager or something!

Vocalising- mama, dada, gaga.....pretty early can't remember when
Saying Mama- meaning specifically me and only when he wants me...about 12 months |

DS starts saying dadda at around 7 months but never says mamma.

Mumumumumum just as a sound from before three months. Dad at 6.5 months mum with intent at 7 months and by 8 months nan, 't t' for our dog Ty and ch ch for our bird.

DD says mamma when in distress and 'Mwah' when we're playing. I think because I always say Mwah! Loudly when I kiss her.
Shes saying 'brk' too but I'm not sure what that means. She's 6 months. |
