My 10 month old usually does 1 poo per day, usually within about 1/2 hour of waking in the morning. He's breastfed and has three mini meals per day - fruit for breakfast, yoghurt (Greek!) for lunch and meat, rice and veg for dinner. (He has allergies and food intolerance so we are a bit restricted in what we can feed him).
Anyway, it's the 4th day now since he's done a poo and I'm getting a bit worried. I haven't noticed him pushing or grunting or trying to get one out in any way.

He did have a little cold, he is teething but apart from that, nothing.

What would you do at this point??

I would make sure that you have a change of clothes and a heap of wipes whenever you go out, until he's done it...

(wouldn't worry about it otherwise - there is a wide range of how often my DD2, 9 months, goes)

Yeah, I have been worrying about this and haven't left the house yet today because of it. My older son is getting very bored.
I keep on reading on eb about poo building up and getting stuck in there. That's not going to happen this fast right???

No, that sort of thing won't happen that fast.

Don't stress too much, this happened to my DS a few months ago. He went from going everyday to once every 5+ days. He's still not back to everyday but is much better than he was (has just turned 11 months and this started at around 8 months). He's breastfed and it started when he was increasing his solids a little.

I tried prunes, pear juice and making sure he got plenty of fibre. What seems to help the most though is upping his water intake during meals.

Mum to two boys!! :O
Give him some prune juice or pureed pears if he can have them. That should get things moving.

DS started getting constipated at around this age. I would give him some prune juice and went easy on the bananas and processed wheat (i.e. no white bread or crackers) as these would block him up. Lots of fibre instead - so apples, pears, wheat bix etc.

You could try adding Inner Health to one if his feeds. That usually helps to settle any digestive problems. I give it to my nearly six month old sometimes if he hasn't gone after three days and he usually goes the next day. Same with my four year old.
