Hospital-provided gown? Your own duds? Nothing at all? I've done a combination of all three in my first two labors/deliveries, but not sure what to expect this time. What worked for you or what would you do differently next time?

The first time I wore a huge t-shirt of dh's that he had worn when he was painting so it could be thrown out afterwards. I also wore big trakkies that came off towards the end.

Second time I wore a black t-shirt and black trakkies so that even if they got stuff on them I didn't have to throw them out. I ended up nude for the last two hours of labour because I was just too hot and uncomfortable.

I am about to do this again soon and will probably just wear my crop top style bra and undies until I take it all off. It's more comfortable to labour without clothes, hostpitals are hot when you are in labour.

With DS the midwife told me to wear a hospital gown so i didn't ruin anything of mine.

With DD (different hospital) i requested a hospital gown, the midwife looked at me like it was a strange request. Later on when I ended up with an epidural she said it was a good call to go with the hospital gown as they would have had to change me into one anyway.

This time around I will go with the hospital gown again.

#1 and #2 - Nothing, I wanted to be naked.

# 3 just a white tshirt, bleached it back to normal afterward and still wear it lol (I wasn't in labour very long, so hadn't had the chance to tell them I wanted in the shower, otherwise it would have come off, and stayed off!)

Proud mummy of 2 gorgeous boys with a surprise bundle on the way
I was naked.... there is no point wearing clothes when you plan to use the shower and bath etc for pain relief and that way no need to worry about getting any thing off etc when you are having painful contractions.

ummm, nothing! Did have a tshirt on initially but kept getting hot/cold then just hot so ditched it altogether. Mind you, my waters kept 'leaking' out so I didn't want anything on the bottom.

I think I put on a gown after the epidural confined me to bed.

DP wore an oversize hoodie of mine, plus a t-shirt, and this pair of freaking awful green velour trackpants she got from an op-shop that were so over size that they fit over her bump and half her boobs (she still wears them when I'm not around to bag her for it, they go up to her neck).

It was the middle of winter and there was something funky going on with the hospitals aircon (even the Doula and i were in and out of out jumpers) so she was glad to have clothes she could take on and off at random.

When the OB broke her waters she got naked to deliver, but was in the clothes until then.

I have a wrap dress that I could get out of quickly but the way it went I stayed in it. I was good bacause I was lying on the bed at the end and could just open it up to have skin to skin, I didn't have anything under it. It didn't get dirty (other than sweaty) and I liked it becasue it fit well over my big tummy after birth but still made me feel nice as I went through the normal parts of the hospital in my chair lol.
