Hi there ladies,

So last night (CD 2) I had noticed I had completely stopped bleeding, so my 'AF' went for only 2 days, which is odd for me. I also noticed I had some stabbing ovulation type pain last night, which is also odd for me during AF. Nothing like usual period pain cramps. In fact, this month I've had no period pain at all, which is unusual. AF was heavy on CD 1 and CD 2 but by the evening of CD 2, I only had old brown blood.

I went to the toilet around 11pm last night before I went to bed, and on a whim, decided to do an OPK and HPT, based on my strange AF. The OPK came back with a faint line, which I expected. But the HPT also came back with a very faint line, which was completely unexpected.

It came up within a couple of minutes, and is pink. It's very noticeable to me (and still is this morning) and is slightly noticeable in pictures (I've attached one below).

I did another test this morning with FMU (although for some reason my FMU was very very light and diluted this morning) and of course, it came back negative.

So now I'm not too sure what would have caused last night's false positive? I'm only on CD 2 (13 DPO if you don't count my 2 days of bleeding as 'AF') and my temps started dropping at 9DPO and never picked up again, aside from a slight rise this morning. So I'm 99% sure I'm not pregnant.

What do you think could have caused this? A faulty test perhaps?

You still could be pregannt. I would wait and do another testing in a few days. I always used the first response tests as I found they were most accurate from the earliest point.

The other possibility is that you've had a chemical pregnancy. So frustrating but hopefully in a day or two it will be clearer one way or another.

Hi KateyDee I also replied to your post in my thread about this...
It's absolutely got me stumped, your test looks pretty much exactly same as mine! I just dont understand how its happening but like yours mine came up pretty much straight away and was pink and more obvious IRL than in the pics.

I hope we get a definate answer very soon, cos I know how much it messes with your head not knowing. Good luck and keep us informed,as will I smile1.gif

hmm..well it could be an evaporation line..but it does look like a pink line..so you could be pregnant..or it could be a chemical pregnancy..i see in your sig that you suspected a chemical in Feb..i think you probably should go and see a doctor and tell them whats happening and get some bloodwork done..it could well be that for some reason you are getting pregnant, but miscarrying early..if thats the case, you want to find out why and can they fix it. Your short leutal phase could be an indication that something is out of balance which in turn could be affecting any potential pregnancy.

Yup, I have a short luteal phase, which we know is a problem. I'm currently taking Vitex, B6 and EPO as well as going to acupuncture 1 -2 times a week to help with my luteal phase.

I'm currently under the care of an obgyn (the same obgyn who dealt with my first pregnancy and the same obgyn who performed my ectopic pregnancy surgery) and she's aware of my short luteal phase. I spoke to her 2 months ago, and was advised that if my LP didn't improve, or if i suspected another chemical pregnancy, that I was so go back into her office to discuss options.

So, I guess I now have to make that appointment...

I wouldn't say that's a false positive. It is a positive test you have there and those particular tests seem to take a while to become strongly positive so I would suggest getting a FR and re-testing tomorrow morning. I have known friends who have had bleeding around the time of their period, it isn't that uncommon. Keep us updated and good luck, I can see you have had a bit of a tough journey xx
