DS2 is 5 (Wow, where did that time go?) - Anyway, he is what many refer to as a "gentle giant" - he is tall and solid, but has the most beautiful, placid nature.

He is in preschool this year, and has had friends "come and go" - When they start to get a little rough and tumble, he backs off... he is not a rough child.

I was speaking to his preschool teacher today, and she said to me "You should see how he is with A". Now, A is non verbal, I am certain there are other things that go along with that, but that part is all I know for certain. When I enquired further, I was told "He communicates with her, without words, he gestures wub.gif and she understands. When its mat time, he will clear a space for her so she can sit down, he is just so good with her".

OMG - I nearly cried. His own brother would have been non verbal, and being told that cemented in my mind that he is an "old soul".

Just by being who he is, he healed my heart immensely after the death of DS1 - always cuddly, such a smoocher, Mummy's boy - everything that I needed to help me, he is.

I love every minute of him (and my girls of course) - he simply amazes me.

Sorry. Very ASW'ish of me, and I know many others have just as wonderful children, but this latest episode I just had to share. So proud of my little man, his willingness to accept others for who they are, and to help. wub.gif

I adore someone with Down syndrome
That's lovely Katrina. My youngest (4yo, with Down syndrome) is largely non verbal (the odd word, but not much), and I love it when the kids are kinder just want to be with her, like the soak up her gentle aura, and they have no expectations of getting anything back from her. You little bloke sounds wonderful.
