Hi
We have a 3 year old girl called Harriet, who we often call Harrie. We have a baby boy coming at the end of July. We think we like Henry as a name but I'm a bit worried that Harrie and Henry are too similar. What do you think? |

Well Harriet is the female version of Harry which is the nickname for Henry so they are really the same name. So no, you can't use Henry if you have a Harriet.

You could use it as a middle name? I hope you find something you love.

I agree that they are too similar for silbling fn's
As PP says, no problem in using Henry as a mn though. |

I don't mind alliteration, i.e. if her name had been Hazel, Hazel and Henry I could do, but the same first and last sound of H & -y/ie is very close and they really are alternate gender variations of the same name, which is too much for me.
I might well do Harrie and Hugh or Harrie and Heath though. Or bump Henry to the middle position. I really do like the name Henry so I see the appeal. |
