Yes my 17.5 month old still has two day sleeps. I was also trying to transition him to one nap this whole week as he would either be fighting bedtime lately or he wasnt taking his arvo naps sometimes too.
He did well for a few days of one nap but the last few days he has woke up around 5.30ish and was just too tired to get to 12ish for that one big nap. So for example, today he woke up at 5.30am and I put him back to bed at 8.30am slept till 10am. Then he's back in bed at 1.45pm today and just woke up now at 3.15pm. Hopefully he'll be in bed by around 7.30pm tonight and not put up too much of a fight. So like you i'm kinda also wondering what do I do, whether I still try to transition him or just see what the morning brings.. I think i'm just going by the rule: early rise = 2 sleeps, later rise (after 7ish) = one sleep. By the way, I do prefer the 2 sleeps....I think we are very lucky they've slept through the day this long at this age and love the break up of the day |

Well it's comforting to know there is such a variety of nap patterns. Thanks for your feedback
DS has continued to flick between two naps and one, so I'll just continue to go with the flow for now and do whatever works on the day. |
