Hi all, DS is nearly 11 months old and he has been spitting food during each meal! Initially I thought it will just be a phase but it's been 3 weeks now and he hasn't shown any sign of stopping. It happens after he has about 4-5 mouthfuls of solids. I have tried changing different types of foods (thinking that maybe he's bored with it) but he still spits them. He finds it funny but I'm getting so frustrated as some of the foods get to my face, my top, the floor, and his clothes! I tried to ignore him and not give him any response (which I was doing before with a firm "no" and he just laughed at me!!) and he is still doing the same. What can I do???

I think most do it, it's fun
I try distraction. Just after the spoon goes in I will pull a funny face, sing a song, whatever it takes so that he is thinking about something else. My DS is my biggest spitter yet and I find that finger food, even though it makes a big mess of him, leaves the rest of the room reasonably clean, unlike weet bix which is like concrete if you don't find it and clean it up fast enough. |

My 13mo does it... I give her her own spoon and it distracts her because she tries to feed herself.
