..with hopes to fit into it before the big day?

So, I'm small statured, 5'3, and should be between 50-60kg for my height. I bought a bargain dress (Maggie Sottero Kadence for $250) which I am just so in-love with. Anyway, it's a size 12, but due to the corset back, it fits from a 10-14 (The lady I bought it from was around 65kg at 5'5 and it fitted her nicely).

To be a 14 I'd have to get to around 70-75kgs, and a 12 around the 60-65 mark.

As my ticker says, I'm currently around 104. Our wedding will be early Feb next year.

I run, and am working on doing longer distances as we have a 10km race coming up in October that I want to do. I have recently (if you remember my posts) spent a few months re-establishing my eating problems, and have control of my binge-eating, and now eat very well, around 1000-1500 calories each day (1500 on workout days).

I am currently just squeezing into an 18. So there are just over 9 months until the wedding, and to get down to around 65kg I would need to lose 39kg in 41 weeks.

Has anyone else done something similar and succeeded? I feel guilty in case I don't achieve my goal, but on the other hand it looks fairly easy to get altered if I don't quite get there.

I would love any advice/tips etc original.gif Thank-you happy.gif

ETA: Pics of the dress from the Maggie Sottero site!

It actually looks much nicer on the lady I bought it from, who is around a 12-14!

Congrats on your loss so far.

I would suggest that 39 kilos in 41 weeks although may be doable, is a big ask. Generally around half a kilo loss a week can be expected on average.

However, if getting in to the dress is enough motivation for you to be literally 'perfect' with your eating and exercise over the next 41 weeks, I say you go girl!

Hi there,

My sister recently lost over 40kgs and she has always said it's only 10% to do with exercise and food. The rest is mental. Here is her blog for some inspiration if you are interested: http://www.sandieslimmingdown.blogspot.com.au/

I myself bought a wedding dress that didn't fit, but only need to loose about 15kgs before the wedding. Lucky for me 2 weeks before the wedding at my fitting (with 10kgs gone), the dress zipped up perfectly with no alterations required. Boy did I feel great!

I wish you all the luck in the world. If you are focused you can do anything.

I think it's doable with lots of motivation. I would either see a dietician or join Weight Watchers. Good luck.

I did, but only needed to lose a small amount of weight. The wedding motivation was the best thing to help my self discipline!
Good luck!

Congrads on getting married, i did the exact same thing brought a dress that i just loved but i only had 8 weeks to loose about 10 kg, i didnt quite loose it all but my mum actually made the dress from a zipper up the side to a lace up. (I love my mum). Everyone thought the dress was beautiful and thought the side lace up was a part of the dress. Goodluck for your weight loss.

Ignorance is not a point of view.
Not a wedding dress, but I did buy a dress that was too small with the motivation of losing weight to fit into it.

The only problem was that when I lost the weight, I didn't lose it evenly all over, so it changed my body shape too, and the dress wasn't very flattering. It clung in all the wrong spots and was baggy in other spots. I looked at getting it altered, but worked out I was better with a different shape/style, so I just bought a new dress. original.gif

Just a warning, especially with such a significant amount to lose, I would be hesitant to buy a dress (especially such a significant one) too early.

I wouldn't. Its too much stress if you can't reach that goal.
