Just after some advice regarding my 11 week olds night sleep. She used to sleep 7-9 hrs straight & then resettle for another 2-3 after, sleeping until at least 6:30, usually 7:30.

2 weeks ago we switched to formula feeding & I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, but ever since, her sleep has taken a big backward step. She is always generally asleep by 7:30, used to wake between 3-5am & resettle again easily for a few hrs. Now she is waking up anywhere from 12:30-3am & will not settle back easily after, then is awake st least every hr from her feed, & pretty much doesn't settle back after 5am. I find it strange as I always thought formula digested slower than breastmilk?

So I am considering introducing a dream feed. I did try a few wks ago just once but she was sleeping so well & it didn't make any difference, and I literally couldn't wake her enough to take more than 20mls. I am thinking of trying it again in the hope that it will help her make it back to 3am again. My worry is that I will end up up every hr from the dream feed with her like I am after her early morning feed. What do u girls think? Would it be worth a shot?
I know she is doing well to be doing 6 hrs straight but I do struggle in that I don't get back to sleep before she is up again after she feeds. We also use a dummy & if she wakes before 2am she occasionally settles back with just the dummy for another hour.

Hi there. Don't worry, you're not alone - my 11week old has started doing exactly the same thing! From waking only twice a night, all of a sudden he was up at 10pm, 12am, 2am and then every hour from 3am to 7am. I was at my wits end as it seemed we were going backwards instead of forwards.

Then I found this great article on sleep regression - http://www.troublesometots.com/the-thing-a...ep-regressions/ Basically, these 'regressions' are just part of a baby's development and are completely normal. The best advice was to not panic and just roll with it, safe in the knowledge that this too will pass!

So, in answer to your query about dream feeds, it's definitely worth a go if you'd like to drop the 3 or 5am feed but why not wait until after this little phase passes and she's back to her normal sleeping pattern? Baby is likely to be more settled then and you may get better results.

Good luck and hope this helps!
