Just after opinions on changing the spelling of Sienna to Ciena? I came across it in one of the baby name books and DH and I both really like it over the traditional spelling and think that it ties in with our other kids really well, however I'm wondering how it will end up being received by others?

Siena like the Italian city would be fine, Ciena I don't get though.

I've seen it spelt Sianna, which makes me want to say it 'sigh-anna'. I personally prefer the Sienna spelling (not that I really like the name though).

But if you like it, go for it, that's all that matters.

I would probably misprounounce that Ci-ee-na, instead of Si-en-na.

The Italian in me can't help pronouncing it "Chi-enna". I agree with keeping the 's' and dropping an 'n'.

She will go through life probably having to spell and pronounce it for people.

Its a telecommunicatiosn company.

I also may be inclined to pronounce it Chi-ena, Ki-ena, or Cee-na.

not a fan, Siena would be ok if you have to change it, but most certainly keep the s.

I agree with this, and what others have said also original.gif

I have a Sienna and even with that spelling people still say her name wrong...the GP we used to see pronounced it 'shay-na' all the time, even after I corrected her LOL

I'd read that at Cee-na, not Sienna.
