No I don't think she is still alive and I think her parents have probably let go of that too! In my heart I would love to think she was stolen by a wonderful family who are loving and nurturing her...it is nicer to accept that possibility than focus on what is the most likely scenario. sad.gif
Poor family, there will be reportings of sightings forever.

Too hot to be a feminist
No I don't believe she is alove either and I think people who pass on these "sightings" are ridiculous. How would they even know what she would look like all these years later, she could look like anything!

I don't think she's alive.

As STBG said the poor family will have to live with 'sightings' for the rest of their lives...
Hell - people still 'spot' the Beaumont children for heavens sake!

Agree, nice to know people are still keeping a eye out just incase though..

There was a guy in america trying to raise funds to get dna testing done as he believed himself to be one of them.
Something about parents being dodgy and no photos before a certain age. Its was on a news site

She had a very distinctive iris on her right eye. A coloboma there made her pupil look keyhole shaped. It's pretty rare.

I agree, it's so unlikely she'll ever be found. Can't help but hope though and I guess with her distinctive eye if she is out there somewhere then maybe one of these sightings will be real.

I came face to face with her mother in a bathroom once, about a year after Maddy went missing. She looked so desperately lost, I'll never forget that look in her eyes - I think her expression will stay with me forever.

spending less time on EB and more time with a book

TBH I have no idea if she could be alive or not. If she is I hope so much that she is being cared for well.

I watced a doco on Foxtel last year about her dissapearance and it really changed my mind on the whole thing. I wish those who report "sightings" would take into account the parents feelings. The parents are living with guilt for the rest of their lives, they dont need to be punished further.

I don't think she is alive. I don't want to think she is alive. I think if she is alive then there are probably some pretty awful things that have happened to her or are still happening now.

Nice wonderful families don't kid nap children and they don't buy children that others have kidnapped and then watch years worth of media coverage that shows their family crying and begging for her return.

I am glad that people report sightings if they are concerned. There have been a few children returned after years that have been living out in the open. She could look like anything now though. My 8 year old looks nothing like she did when she was 2 or 4. All 4 kids have been born really dark, turned blonde with light eyes and very pale skin before getting their "dark colours" as we call them. The end up with black hair, brown to almost black eyes with dark skinned. My DH goes away for 6-9 months and is always shocked that the child he came home to looks nothing like the one he left.

Other than her eye. Maddy may look nothing like she did when she was taken making it impossible to recognise her.
