i fed dd2 for 18 months so i should know the answer to this but i dont!
since dd3 was born 5 days ago feeding on the right side has been painful as wass the left but it is excellent on that side now. But right side i want to scream when i feed her. it burns, feels like someone is hackiong my nipple off and the pain doesnt stop. There are no white spots or marks etx and dd has no visable thrush .... but it has to be thrush doesnt it? i had it with dd and it was exactly the same pain etc.... but i had it in both.... i have started treating nipple with thrush treatment but i am hesitant to start dd on it as she is only 5 days old.... |

It's a hard one, it is pretty early, have you had antibiotics recently? Does bub have any sign of it in his mouth?
I presume you will be seeing someone for a health check up, ie MW or CHN, could you ask them? If you really do have thrush it is recommended to treat both mum and bub. The link below is to the RWH in Melb and has lots of information, I hope it helps and you are pain free soon. The other thing is it may be attachment related, WDYT? http://www.thewomens.org.au/breastandnipplethrush All the best. |
