So I picked up a Beef Silverside Roast from the supermarket, froze it and then realised I'd gotten the wrong thing. I was meant to picked up a Corned Beef.
So is there anything I can make with this or do anything to jazz it up a bit. Am I able to do corned beef at home? I wouldn't even know what cut Silverside is.... |

Silverside is the cut of meat that you use to make corn beef. They are the same thing.

Silverside is the cut but it probably hasn't been corned I it is a roasting piece. Check the ingredients and smell it then you'll tell if it has been corned or not. If its not corned you can pockets it stuff and roast, I like carpet bag style roast with smoked oysters etc I the stuffing. A bacon. Onion, mushroom breadcrumb stuffing would b good too. Bear in mind it will likely be a tough piece of meat as it hasn't much marbling or fat.

If it hasn't been corned, then it's a type of roast that will need to be cooked very slowly and for a very lon time.
Have you got a slow cooker? I've done a silverside beef roast in it - cooked in sherry and water - for about ten hours. Delish. |

QUOTE I'm pretty sure that silverside and corned beef are the same thing That's what I thought as well but as fdab66 said Silverside is the cut that is used to corn it - not sure what the process is to corning a piece of silverside though. Roses99 yes I do have a slow cooker so might look into a recipe for that. |
