I've never had high anxiety while pregnant but I have suffered from it previously when undergoing cancer treatment. I would call your midwife or OB team and talk to a perinatal psychologist. I have been told I have to see one as I had anxiety problems in the past and they want to make sure I'm coping but they shouldn't just throw medication at you unless you feel that you are at the point of needing them and you feel comfortable. They offer relaxation, coping strategies and meditation at my hospital with the perinatal mental health team.
Just do what you feel comfortable with and if you are ever struggling and need someone impartial to chat to call lifeline. I have called them before. There are many road to go down to help put you at ease, you just have to talk to them Wishing you all the best |

I had that in my last pregnancy. It lasted the whole way through. I saw a psychiatrist to help manage my anxiety. I think it was definitely hormonal, as I was completely fine within a few days of having DS, and haven't had any issues since.
Perinatal depression and anxiety is relatively common, so have a chat with your doctor about how you're feeling. |

Yes I think its perfectly normal, especially at the start of pregnancy. Every twinge and crampy feeling had me running for the loo to check for blood. Hopefully once you reach the end of your first trimester you will feel less anxious. If not, a chat to your GP might help with a rec. for a psychologist. My midwife was terrific at allaying my fears with my last pregnancy too.
Best of luck. |
