Dear All,

I hope you don't mind me popping by - I have found this thread great, it is nice to know that I am not alone in my situation and to share other's journeys.

We are on our first ovulation induction cycle, after I found out my AMH was less than .1. Had my first +12 blood test today so will find out this afternoon whether we are BFP. I am however a realist, but the journey has started....who knows where it will lead.

I look forward to hearing of other's journeys and hopefully lots of BFP.

Me 39, DH 39
LOR – AMH – less than .1
TTC since February 2012

April 2012 – Ovulation Induction Cycle – Chlomid 50mg

Hi everyone

Gosh efingerscrossed your story gives us hope.

Welcome mytimenow. I'm 39 also and I had an AMH of 1, I have a DS so I'm hoping that we can give him a sibling. Still trying naturally as advised by our FS in Sydney, but we are seeing a new doctor at the end of May, as we have moved to Canberra so I will find out what she suggests then.

bex18 good luck with the appointment, I hope the doctor gives you some clarity.

Good luck everyone else.

We've started a new cycle this month (natural) and doing my temps. They are all over the place, so who knows what's happening.

Hi LuckyMe1,

A fellow 39 year old low AMH'er! I wish you all the best this cycle and hopefully things settle down for you.

I am also in Canberra and attending the Canberra Fertility Clinic, I have been very happy there so far, they are very helpful and friendly especially for a newbie like me.

There are some good FS here in Canberra and I am with Dr Armellin but have heard great things about a number of others so I wish you all the best of luck for a sibligh for your DS.

Hi mytimenow.
Great to also hear you're from Canberra too! Did you say your AMH is 0.1? I'm so sorry to hear that. But if you're ovulating that's gotta be good right. It only takes one egg also. I hope you get one this month.
We're seeing Simone Campbell at Genea at the end of May. But I have one natural cycle to do before we see her so you never know eh? Fingers crosse for both of is.
Hello to everyone else, hope you are all travelling ok.

hi all,

Had chiro appt yesterday, i have a lot of nerves blocked, a few which go to my reproductive area, others to my heart, kidneys, adrenals, gall bladder!! Which are all vital areas which need to be working well for fertility. Good news is she can fix it original.gif

FS appointment today, she did an trans vaginal scan, i am CD7 and had 4 follies on each ovary, she said she wouldd like to see more, but it is def bettter than just one which i was scared about.

My uterus looks great, along with the lining for this part of the cycle which means that my estrogen levels are good.

She gave me 2 options, IUI (natural cycle) or IVF. I asked her what her professional opinion is, and she said becuase of the egg quanity, IVF. She saaid with my age (27) have a 60% sucess rate!! Where if we did IUI is would be 10%. IUI is wayyyy cheaper, but i think we are going to go down the IVF track.

I feel so much better, and don't feel like i need to google galore! I will be googling sucess stories now i think.

We see her in a month to adivse our decision, then go from there, so it will probably be at least 2 months before we start the drugs.

Luckyme1, can i ask how you are taking your temps? I took mine orally for 6 months, did vaginally this month, and there is not much variation (so far).

mytimenow, how did the blood test go? How did you find your first round of IVF? I didn't know that you went under GA to retrieve the eggs!! That is the part i am most scared about lol

ejfingerscrossed, thank you for the advise, i def think i will get to that stage, but at the moment i am still in a bit of shock as i already have a DS, and only 27 years old. Feeling a bit better about it already, i know that there is no point worrying about why it is what it is, just have to accept it for what it is. It will gt easier i think. Did you fall pregnant on your first round of IVF??

Bellfin
, are you there, how did the scan go....

Hi all,
Just thought I would quickly pop in and let you know my results from Friday. Had my follow up scan and straight away we saw the baby and a strong HB!!! We could even see it moving it's developing arms!!
The little one is measuring 13.6mm which made me 7wks 5 days on Friday and is spot on with my IVF dates so expected due date at this stage is still 17th Dec.

Hope everyone here is well, I'll still lurk through here to see how everyone is going.
Good luck to all xx

Bellefin - Hope all is going well hon? Just getting back to your question: no the total amount of eggs aren't affected by the pill, it's more that the results are not necessarily an accurate predictor of ovarian reserve because of the pill i.e. that whilst your on the pill your not recruiting as many follicles in some cases - therefore not accurate in that instance for ovarian reserve.

Kels22 - the last 2 weeks must have been long for you, but sounds like your DH has good eye sight with seeing that flicker! Fantastic news on the strong HB, I'm so happy for you.

Luckyme1 - Oooh I think the acupuncture sounds like something I'd enjoy. Is it okay to do during the 2WW?

bex18 - re your AMH results is have you been on the pill recently? In the last 6 months I have tested 4.4 on the pill then 15.1 & 22.2 off the pill. Even if you haven't been on the pill, try testing again at a different lab. also go have other tests done i.e. a Pelvic Ultrasound on day 3 of your cycle which they can check both your Antral Follicle Count & your Ovarian Volume which will help them tell if your low amh correlates or not with other tests, dont trust just that one test. Some of the other ladies here maybe able to suggest other tests i.e. FSH, etc (sorry I'm not sure didnt test those). I think ejfingerscrossed is on the right track, focus on your next steps. You sound really positive after your appt with the FS, it feels good to formulate a plan.

I think Bellefin explained the DHEA very well. I'm on it prescribed by my FS, but that is not just for low amh is also because of m/c's to help improve egg quality. But if I can explain a little further; supplements we try cannot actually improve egg quality although that's what we say it's more that we are trying to stop the eggs being damaged further (by things like free radicals in the the body) once they begin their journey from resting state in your ovaries to the egg chosen for release each cycle.

I'm a bit like Kels22, marriage before kids is no longer a concern for me. Marriage can happen at anytime (or not) for all I care now, but kids cannot esp at 36 original.gif

ejfingerscrossed - thanks for your beautiful storey, good luck with your pregancy. I was on Diane too with low score of 4.4 for amh (see my above comments to bex18). Do you know if that means some pills affect it and others do not?

mytimenow - welcome, keen to hear if you have a BFP original.gif good luck!

AFM - just plodding along in the 2WW on 8 DPO and dying to POAS but trying to hold back until 10 DPO cause once I start I can't stop original.gif

Congrats, that is wonderful news! I wish you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy original.gif

Do you mind if i ask you a few questions? Did they change your drugs much from oct- march?? Did the put you under to remove the eggs?? What is 'IVF/ICIS'?? Do you do anything different yourself between oct and when you got your BFP?

thank you original.gif

Ellik, nope haven't been on the pill for over 4 years...
I think with the AMH, all the Qld clinics send it to a lab in WA.
My FS did a scan when i was there on friday, and at CD7 i had 4 follicles on each side. She also said that i do have ovaries on the smaller side.
I forgot to ask her whether I would respond to fertility drugs (especially FSH) as i already have low AMH and a highish FSH (16).
So DHEA can only stop free radicals is that right? Or are you saying the DHEA can improve the quality and supplements cant?

My 1st test was with Douglas Hanly Moir (nsw) who sent it to Genea (nsw)
My 2nd test I did in qld (was on holiday from nsw) I went to Healthscope who sent it to Repromed in SA
My 3rd I really wanted another lab to test so I called around until I found another option I actually took my Douglas Hanly Moir pathologt request to IVF Australia, they were happy to take it. Was cheaper and less hassle my GP had the results within a week. From my ringing around most pathology collection centres end up sending it to an IVF clinic anyways and then add a small fee on top.
So shop around if you do decide to take it again original.gif

Did she give you the volume for each ovary? I had my scan done on CD10 which is very late (long story). I only had 6 follies in total which stressed me to no end, my FS was not too concerned said some follies may have already under gone atresia (follies die off as the strongest take dominance). So maybe your 8 on CD7 could be similiar. So take some heart if you had a day 3 scan it may have been different, plus the count can vary from cycle to cycle.

Sorry if I was not clear. All supplements whether it be DHEA, CoQ10, L-arginine, Vitamin D etc cannot 'improve' quality but can possibly help 'maintain' quality. Eggs can be damaged as they mature from being dormant to an egg ready to be ovulated.

Hi all,

Kels22 - so pleased to hear all is going well and that bub is developing well.

Luckyme1 - yes my AMH is very low, but you are so right, it only takes one good egg. I am also lucky that I am still ovulating and my hormone levels are good. I was wondering if I should get another AMH test done? As I see so many people on here have had different AMH levels, but I wasn't on the pill prior, so am not sure if it is worth it, given we are heading down the IVF path after this cycle.

For me BFN this cycle, but I remain positive. So back on the Chlomid and ovuluation induction for this cycle. We see the FS on the 15th and will start the prep for IVF,

Looking forward to hearing how everyone is going and sharing your journeys.
