I would like to add that I don't think the number is important. It is the quality. My friend has had 3 babies from 4 eggs collected, 3 fertilized.
It only takes 1 to make a baby. Anything more than 1 is a bonus but won't always translate into take home babies. This post has been edited by Hoping4a2012baby: 31/08/2012, 06:02 PM |

For everyone it all depends.
For me I have PCO and it's a quality v quantity scenario. I stim and get big numbers but from 14 I got one suitable to transfer and 2 frosties. I subsequently got a BFP and quickly MC. So I don't have the best quality. And it only takes one for a BFP. Goodluck OP. |

So just got a call from FN...
He said everything is looking great (whatever that means...I dont know of any specific results as such)... So EPU will be on 17/04... and I will be taking my trigger shot (Ovidrel) on Sunday.. What's everyone's experience with Ovidrel..does it hurt more than the Puregon.. I have found the Puregon alright..and not painful..except after injecting...?? |

Good luck OP.
Like the other girls who has said its about the quality of the embryo that makes it to transfer. Remember that the FS is using this first cycle as a trial, so its about working out how well you respond, how many mature eggs are collected, then how many fertilise and make it to day 5 are really anyones guess, IVF is such a numbers game, dont give up, expect the worst, and hopefully achieve the best. Good luck with EPU next week FWIW my first ICSI cycle i cant remember how many follies i had but i got 7 eggs collected, 6 were mature and 2 made it to day 5, Second ICSI cycle i had 20 eggs collected, 18 were mature, 15 fertilies, and 6 made it to blast. Not all thawed for FETs though Always something to remember, that a frostie doesnt mean a transfer.... spotty. |

Hi Angelic At the end of the day what you get is what you get. It may only take one. I remember last year reading about one lady who only had one follie, got one egg and got her BFP. So you never quite know. It's a crap shoot unfortunately - try to go with the flow and not too much pressure on yourself. Best of luck! This (my bold). My stats for what they are worth:- Like a PP, I have PCO & I've had 22/20/19/18/19 - or something like that. When I got 22 in my first cycle I nearly flipped out with happiness & both DH & I were certain we have a whole lot of great embies. We ended up with one blastocycst, and the same happened on the next (20) cycle, both BFNs. It's a bit of a cliche in the world of IVF but it really is quality over quantity. Good luck angelic. |

I agree - Quality over Quantity.
I have 1 ovary and only ever get 3 follies= 3 eggs. They all fertilized and 1 was transferred. Only 1 fresh transfer ended up a BFN. Good luck... hoping you get your BFP soon. |
