As the topic title says- how old was your child when thy finally left your bed to sleep in their own? I'll be honest, I have a 5 year old and 2 year old who sleep with me and they show no sign of wanting to leave anytime soon. I have visions of the two of them sleeping with me when they are 12 and 15!

My 5.5 year gets up and comes in to bed with us in the wee small hours on most nights. I am wondering the same thing.

DD moved into a toddler bed beside my bed when she was 2 and then 12 months later we moved and she went into her own room and has been there since. She is about to turn 6.

DS moved out when he was nearly 4, at my instigation because his sister was due. He slept on the floor next to my bed for a few months before he willingly moved to his own bed. He stopped coming in in the early mornings at about 6. He is nearly 10 and still very occasionally comes into my bed first thing in the morning for a cuddle.

DD#3 was moved into a toddler bed at 3 - that meant she started going to sleep in her toddler bed but initially still came into my bed by about 11pm. That gradually moved later and later (at her instigation) until by about 5 she wasn't coming into my bed until about 4am. She is 5 3/4 and just in the last month has stopped coming into my bed at all if I get up before 7am.

32 months, we bought her a bed, special doona and she hasn't looked back. Slept through last night despite teething with her. 2 year molars. Most nights I do have to go in and lay down for a couple of mins but she hasn't come back into our bed since. She moved out in February.

Eta she also showed no desire to leave our bed until we bought her her own bed. I think perhaps she just hated the cot.

I'll have to get back to you on that one if and when it happens.

She's rapidly approaching 8.
