Family day care that does drop off and pick up from kinder. You do have to pay for care during the kinder hours though.

We managed it by not sending her to kinder and by continuing to send her to the LDC with a preschool program.
Without the option of after school care, it was impossible. These days we could've managed it, as my new workplace is more flexible, but the old one sure wasn't. |

Our DD goes to a long day care centre and she's in the preschool room with 4 to 5 yr olds. We are very happy with all the things she has learnt. She's 4 and already can write her name, read words, count, add up and so many more things. All taught at preschool. On top of that she is really happy there. She gets dropped off at 8 and picked up around 5 3 days per week

I had many hours of mulling over this problem before my oldest went to kinder. I really wanted them to go to local council kinder, rather than stay in LDC because the kinder program at our LDC was crap and I liked the idea of being at the kinder which fed into the school he would go to.
So I negotiated a later start time, and hired a very responsible uni student to do the pick up and paid her for 3 hours, where she would get kids dinner and play with them til I got home from work. She ended up moving to more hours with us as a nanny for a couple of years. |

Last year DS1 did 9:00 - 1:00 three days a week. We managed as I did drop off and had a slightly late start at work and DH picked him up during his lunch break and dropped him off at childcare.
This year DS2 is dropped off by DH and there are a number of parents in the same boat and they rotate the transfer to childcare. The year before last, DS1 did 9-2 2 days a week and I negotiated with work to work a half day 9:30 - 1:30 on those days. |

My dds both did kinder and long day care on different days, I worked two or three long days, and some worK from home on the short kinder days.
A lot of parents at our kinder did that, or used relatives, or family day care for pick ups. I've only ever done part time work. Our daycare also had a kinder program, so for a lot of kids at daycare, they went up to 5 days a week, but still had a qualified kinder teacher. She was was a great teacher, and prepared them well for school. |
