My 3 1/2 yo DS is only *just* ready, we've been having a go at TTing this week but it looks like it's going to be drawn out and probably go into winter. Somehow I've got it in my head that TTing is a summer thing, but surly it's fine to do it in Winter, yes?

Ive just started tt my 2 year old and it will prob go into winter as well...i dont see the problem, if its cold just put the heater on lol. I also tt my dd1 in winter and it was fine. I guess people talk about doing it in summer so they can run around outside with nothing on.

Both my DD's decided to TT smack in the middle of winter. DD1 2 weeks after I brought DD2 home from hospital and we were selling our house! Not good timing, was in the middle of July, but it was very easy. She was ready and she pushed it. She was pretty much fine within 2-3 weeks. She was 2yrs 3 months at the time.
DD2 decided right on 2 years, again in July that she wanted out of nappies. She took about 2-3 weeks as well before we were pretty much free of accidents. We still got the odd one but usually next to the toilet as we didn't make it in time. Within about 2-3 weeks of both I felt confident about going out to the shops etc without stressing too much about it. Good luck! |

Yes, it's fine to TT whenever I think. I haven't before, but we will be this winter too, after not having much success this summer. QLD winters don't get too cold do they?
It gets cold here, but I'm persisting anyway. Just means no running around in undies.. I have stocked up on trackies for when it gets really cold & I'm gonna have HEAPS more washing. But will be worth it! |

We TT my DD last winter, we just put her in undies and a pair of comfortable track pants and went for it. She was TT in the space of a weekend (day trained) and then night trained about 6 months later.

I TT both DD1 & DS around & during Winter. No different to any other season really. But then they only took 3 days to TT. I just made sure I was on top of any wet pants, and ensured there were plenty of spare dry long pants.

Probably suggest summer as you may have extra washing.
Unless DD pushes it I will be waiting until Sept to TT her (we are in Melb). |

For a 3.5 year old - id start now. Hopefully it's quick for you. I have a 2.5 year old and we will encourage sitting on the toilet for poos each day, but will leave the actual TT till Spring, when he'll be three.

Just going to add that theoretically at 3.5yrs it should be quick. DS1 and DS2 TT at 3.25yrs in 5 days.
Days 1-2 were complete write offs, peeing in pants etc. End of Day 2 I worked out their 'currency'. For DS1 this was the toy of his choice at the toy store when he was perfectly dry. For DS2 it was chocolate (so a smartie for a pee and kindersurprise egg for a poo). Days 3-4 they realised they needed to go but sometimes had an accident while trying to get their pants down in the bathroom Day 5 perfectly dry. (unfortunately though for DS2 he refused to poo on the toilet for another 6m DD is only just under 2.5yrs so in no hurry to get her TT although if she says she wants to wear undies I will. |
