I love my Kindle!! But I have just purchased an iPad 2, so my hubby would like my Kindle now. My problem is, I have alot of books on my computer not purchased through Amazon, and I use Calibre to put them on my Kindle. Can I do the same for the iPad?

Yes you can. Probably the easiest way is to use Dropbox to transfer them, you can't just drop and drag files like you can to the Kindle. If you use Dropbox you just drag them to the app on your computer, wait for it to sync, open it up in the Dropbox app on your iPad then when it says it can't open the file you click on the little box in the top right corner and tell it to open in the Kindle app. Once it's been opened in the Kindle app it is always available in the Kindle app without having to go through Dropbox again.

You probably can email them to the iPad but I've not been able to get that to work.

I use Calibre too. What I do is just drag and drop all the books into iTunes (when open). Then when it next syncs, they should all sync automatically. If they don't, check that the iPad is set up for books (once the iPad is showing up in iTunes, you click on the iPad and you can choose whether you want all movies, selected movies, all tv shows, selected TV shows, etc. Make sure that books are selected, then tell it to resync).

Oh nice katykins, I'll give that a go. I use Calibre on a different computer to iTunes so it didn't occur to me to try it that way.

ETA in that case you could probably just add the whole Calibre library folder to iTunes to make it even quicker.
