My DS who is 2 went for his maternal health nurse check today and the nurse said his head is at 90%, weight at 50% and height at 25%. She also said his fonntinelle at the front hasn't closed yet which means his head is getting bigger
Thankyou |

My DD's fontinelle didn't close until she was 2 1/2.
What did the MHN say? Was she concerned? Ours thought it was perfectly normal at our 2 year check up but DD was on the 50% for weight, height and head circumference. |

It isn't unusual for an anterior fontanelle to not be fused at age 2 but it shouldn't be getting larger.
If your MCHN feels that your child's head circumference is increasing then she should advise you to see your doctor asap. OP I would see your GP and go from there. It may be quite normal but it may be a sign of some issues with the fluid around the brain...best to check. Good luck. |
