Do you think they make a difference? I've seen many more babies around with them now than when my first DD was teething a few years ago.

Also, if you do like them, any recommendations for a reputable place to get one? PM is fine if you don't want to answer here.

Thanks.

No scientific basis whatsoever, no proof that they work, but they won't be any worse than doing nothing, and plenty of parents "believe" in them even though they had no effect on teething. On the plus side, they're kinda cute.

But don't waste your money.

DD's amber arrived after she cut her first 2 teeth (8 months). When her 3rd and 4th teeth cut (11 months) it really didn't seem to make much difference. She was obviously in pain overnight, waking, arching her back and needed pain relief. I kept the amber on her anyway as it does look super cute wub.gif
About a month ago at 14 months she was having a really good belly laugh when I saw that she had cut 2 molars! Looking back she had woken overnight the previous week when she normally sleeps through but other than that there was nothing. She cut her next 2 molars and again I didn't notice!
I ordered DD's from 'Mumma Rocks'. It's a cognac (dark) coloured one, apparently the lighter the colour the better (stronger?) they are.

Well my DS went from waking screaming overnight every 15 minutes and whimpering even when asleep to waking only every 3 hours overnight and no hysterical screaming in agony. The change occurred about 3 days after putting the necklace on. He's still a bad teether but no where near as bad.

Daycare took it off him once and I didn't realise for a few days. It was only when he started getting irritable when teething that I realised it was missing. I put it back on and in a few days things had clamed down again.

I don't care what people say - I can tell a difference.

I found with my kids that the K9 (eye) teeth were the worst ones. Molars for my kids were only found when laughing (and no disturbance at night).

Oh yeah, didn't have an amber teething necklace either.

DD has never had an issue with teething since we got her Amber Teething Necklace. I can tell the difference when she has it off for a couple of days.

They also look cute. So win - win.

ETA: She does not drool whats-so-ever with her necklace unlike DD1 at that age. I've also never had to give her any pain relief for teething (such as Panadol or Bonjela)

I was sceptical but DD2 was such a bad teether, she would have to be held for about three or four days at a time, I thought it couldn't hurt to try. She would get nappy rash, wouldnt eat or sleep, cranky, tired, you name it she was it original.gif

I decided to try one (I just got one off eBay) and two weeks later she had two new molars with virtually no symptoms! She had the nappy rash and would stir once or twice through the night but we didn't even need to go to her, she would put herself back to sleep straight away.

I'm still surprised at the changes in DD original.gif

Love the Amber necklace.

There may be no scientific evidence that they work but DD calmed down so much after we bought her one, and she is way to young to understand the placebo effect.

Bought mine of Ebay from an amber seller in QLD. Can't remember the shop name but am very happy with it.

Nope, load of crap. And a choke hazard.

I wore amber for years (not for health reasons because I was given it by my Dad) and it didn't do anything for pain.
