I love my boys very much and due to SN child am their permanent carer and mother. The school holidays are so long though and due to a strict budget we don't have a lot spare so spend most days sitting at home unless its kindy or swimming. I guess it just gets repetitive and boring. I've also had the flu twice this month so my energy level right now is zero. haha just needed to have a whinge.

Mum to two boys!! :O
I'm hearing you. I am home with my two - also pregnant so energy not the highest. Yesterday we went to the park and lasted 10 minutes as it was so cold and windy. Today we were going to catch a train but when we got in the car it had a flat tyre so we are waiting for the NRMA now.....

Funnily enough the kids seem more than happy to blob around the house at the moment, its me that's getting bored!

I was bored yesterday, so invited the neighbours kids over for a play and ended up doing a cooking day (needed to make dinner anyway so was a win for me!).

I gave each of us (me, DS and the neighbour's kids), a foil container and we made scollop potatoes. I just cut up potatoes and onions and put into 2 bowls and the kids layered them in the foil tins. I made the creamy sauce to put over the top and then wrote their names on the side of each pan. At the end of the day the kids took the potatoe home to Dad to have for dinner. Killed a bit of time!

Also we had heaps of fruit in the fruit bowl, so I pulled out the juicer and cut up all the fruit and got each kid to put hat fruit they wanted into a seperate bowl and we juiced it infront of them for afternoon tea. Was a blast...will definetly be doing that again. They were facinated by it all.

But yes, I do get terribly bored at home and sometimes wish I was back at work. I do try to be a it inventive with our activities for the day to kill time.

Yes. Very. I never have the car, and am too lazy to catch public transport around with DD, which is my own fault - but drives me crazy!

Looking for part time work now.

I rarely manage to spend a day at home and love it when I do manage it.

Yes, I do. Fortunately not SN kids so I could go back to work part time, but before that I was getting really antsy at home. Sorry you don't have that choice sad.gif

Have you checked out free activities run by the local council etc and see if they are activities your kids might enjoy?

We do parks, local pool, play dates to keep costs down over the holidays. I don't have SN to deal with so I presume that make things that much harder. For me the hardest things is juggling two very differnt kids who want to do polar opposite activities.

I do get bored, but I tend to think thats just because on that day I may be lacking motivation to actually do something interesting...lol.

I get a bit of cabin fever from time to time which can be frustrating.

Hope the rest of the holidays go by a bit easier OP.

It's a very modern idea to 'buy' leisure activities rather than 'do' them. We get to the park every day with a $2 frisbee and a $3 ball and can spend two hours there. We'll go for a walk, find flowers, look at construction trucks, paint with water etc.

You don't need money to amuse kids. Get everyone out of the house and don't tolerate any complaints. It's always fun once you're out doing something!
