Last Tuesday I woke up feeling a bit "off" like I had a bit of indigestion. Come Tuesday night I was vomiting every 1.5 hours until the morning where I spent Wednesday basically unconcious in bed - felt much better by Thursday. DH and our 3 girls seem unaffected which was a relief and we went on to have a great Easter.

Last night DD1 came home from school and had 1 big vomit, a tiny bit of diarrhea and some nausea. Slept well all night and is raring to go this morning. Over the course of last night DH was up 6 times with diarrhea and I have been up half the night with both vomiting and diarrhea.

Our younger 2 girls seem fine. I thought it might have been some steak that we had for dinner on Tuesday night (the younger 2 didnt eat it) or could we/I just be unlucky that basically in the past week I have caught 2 gastro bugs???

After I was sick I washed, disenfected and gave everything a good going over with some Glen 20. I always wash my hands before preparing any food and after toilet/changing nappies ect (possibly a bit too much as I have terrible chapped hands ATM)

Where am I going wrong? Obviously I am sitting here feeling terribly sorry for myself not to mention the amount of work I have been missing lately.

Any Ideas???? HELP

A viral gastro bug went through my extended family like that. One would get it, then a week later another person, then another, then the first person again. My mum ended up having it 4 times over two months. I caught it after visiting my mum's place even though nobody sick was there and hadn't been for two weeks, and mum was also very festitidous with the cleaning. Mum ended up getting it tested to find out what it was, and yes, viral gastro that affected the small intestine, so basically nothing you can do about it.

The people who were more unhealthy fared a lot worse than those of us who were healthy. Two of my family members ended up in hospital, but they were otherwise immune compromised.

Hope you all feel better soon. I'd go to the doctor if I were you!

It sounds like gastro to me. I believe that food poisoning results in a very quick reaction, and isn't contagious.

Maybe you caught it again? SO you had it, gave it to the family, and they returned the favour. Or maybe you just weren't over it yet.

I think it can happen however careful you are. It is very hard to live in the same house and not pass bugs on.

My guess is that last week you may have had food poisoning of some sort, or a gastro you managed to keep to yourself, and this week you all had gastro. Hope you're all feeling much better soon, and that your younger kids don't cop it too. Gastro sucks the big one.

ETA there are many, many viruses that can cause gastro symptoms, so it's not unreasonable that you have come into contact with two different ones, and possibly you might have been more susceptible to the second one because you were still a bit down after the first iykwim.

Out of the blue & quite suddenly my DD started vomitting on sunday night (Easter), she vomitted every hour for 4 hours, slept ok & was just tired & lethargic the following day but otherwise fine. DH & I were sure we'd get it too like last time my DD had it but we didn't. That same night I had a bout of diarrhea but only twice & that was it.
We were thinking at first that it may have been the salmon we had for dinner but it was fine & neither DH & I were affected (well besides the diarrhea for myself).
The next day I found out that my SIL was also sick the night of the day we visited (24 hours before DD started vomitting) so I'm thinking that perhaps she passed it on. No one else in SIL house got sick & DD was the only one in our house to get sick.

Very lucky it didn't spread through us all.

Sounds like gastro. There is a lot around at the moment, so many of my friends have had it.

I'd be keeping your DD1 at home if she was sick last night, otherwise she may spread it to others.
