Hi there,

The carpet in my place is around 15 years old and needs replacing. I got a quote today for a mid range nylon carpet and am just wondering if it's ball park ok based on others' experiences. I will be getting at least one other quote.

3 bedrooms (one with walk in robe) and combined lounge/dining room. Heard the carpet guy when checking availability saying I'd need 16.5 lineal metres. Quote includes 10mm underlay and installation.

Cost $4440 incl GST which works out to $269/ lineal metre installed.

Thanks very much.

I recently carpeted the lower floor of my house - two good sized bedrooms, a BIG living area and stairs. All up it cost just under $3,000 but the carpet was on sale.

They botched up the stairs and are now refusing to fix it for us so I can't say Im overly impressed with them given the company came to us on good reputation.

Other than that, very happy with it. Full price the carpet was $165 a lineal metre, I think we paid $121. The carpet we used was godfrey hirst la scala and the colour is oak bark.

I was quoted about $1700 for 2 bedrooms - 3x4m and 3x3m (so about 7 lineal metres). That was top of the range underlay and a pretty good nylon carpet. That was a few years ago so probably would be around $2000 now.

My parents were quoted $6000 for four bedrooms and combined lounge dining. I think this was for good carpet so it sounds like your quote is about right.

We recently got a quote for 3 bedrooms and combined lounge/diningroom - 97 square metres in total. We got three quotes which included pulling up old carpet, underlay and installation for middle of the range carpets. Ranged from $5,000 - $7,000. Quotes were from Bunnings, Carpet One and one other company I can't remember.
