You can't use symbols in Australia.
What is it, what does it mean and how is it pronounced? And more to the point why would you want to register your child as a name that almost no one here would know how to say? |

According to this names cannot be registered if they contain symbols with no phonetic significance, like a question mark, but Greek letters do have phonetic significance so I don't see why you couldn't use them? I'm not really sure.

It seems a bit mean to register a child with that name as a large majority of people (me included!) would have no idea what it was or how it sounded.

I sincerely hope it is NOT. I pity a child who would spend their whole life trying to explain what their name was and how to pronounce it!
