Hi all- as the title states-

I have a first date (after meeting at a gig) and it's at my place. It was his suggestion to come over for dinner so now I'm like SH*T what am I going to cook.

I need to think of something that I can have ready so I don't have to be in the kitchen cooking under pressure... Also not too garlicy as there will be kissing involved (and lots of it! LOL).

So hit me with your sure-fire recipe suggestions that I can prepare ahead of time and knock his socks off with. I really need this ddance.gif It's been a loooooong time!

Nothing messy or challenging to eat - so no spaghetti or Balmain bugs!

(Soup could be a good indicator on if they are a slurper....)

haha I'm cooking Spag Bol for mine! (Because I know he really likes it...)

Do you have any idea what he does/doesn't like? I normally do things like curries or lasagne when Ive got people coming over so I can get all the prep done before anyone turns up.

I made lamb shanks for my DH the other week.

They were surprisingly easy, quite fancy & paired with mashed spuds & quickly cooked greens (brocollini in my case) Looked really fancy.

I surprised myself actually.

Lasagne & salad
Chicken & potato bake

Maybe some nice little finger-food type desserts, or you could go all out & whip up a heavenly choc concoction, icecream, berries etc

Yummo

Something we did for guests the other week: chicken rolled around a spinach/bacon/pinenut filling, browned then finished off in the oven...

Nigella's late night chilli con carne recipe with a polenta crust

Sounds a bit naff but it's simple, might suit your post gig plans and great for sharing. Don't avoid the garlic just don't overdo it. If you both have the same amount you'll be safe to pash
